PU MF: solvent-free self-leveling PU flooring

A 3-component, solvent-free self-leveling polyurethane floor with a smooth, seamless surface. It resists chemicals and withstands -40 to 120°C, suiting food, beverage and pharmaceutical plants and areas that must be kept very clean.

  • Solvent-free, 100% Solids
  • Chemical resistant + withstands -40 to 120°C
  • Smooth, seamless and easy to clean
  • Strong adhesion (concrete fails before the bond)

What is PU MF?

PU MF (PU Self-Leveling) is a 3-component, solvent-free polyurethane floor system. It is used to waterproof floors, seal concrete pores and serve as a chemical-resistant finish coat, giving a smooth, attractive, seamless surface.

With more flexibility and a wider temperature tolerance than standard epoxy, PU MF is particularly well suited to food, beverage and pharmaceutical plants, cold rooms and areas with frequent chemical exposure or temperature changes.

Key properties

Excellent adhesion

Bonds very well to concrete, with a tested bond strength of 31 N/mm² (concrete fails before the bond).

Chemical resistance

Resists acids, alkalis, oils and process chemicals well.

Wide temperature range

Usable from -40°C to 120°C, suiting cold rooms and hot areas.

Smooth, seamless surface

Resists the build-up of dirt and germs, and is easy to clean and hygienic.

Solvent-free

100% Solids formula with low odor, safer for users and the environment.

High compressive strength

Compressive strength of 51 N/mm² for heavy use in plants.

PU MF system build-up, layer by layer

A self-leveling system does give a smooth surface, but how long that smoothness lasts depends on the layers underneath that you cannot see.

Primer

A low-viscosity primer soaks into the concrete pores and seals the air voids that would otherwise rise as pinholes in the layer above.

PU Self-Leveling layer

The 3-component polyurethane is poured and spread to the specified thickness, and the material flows and levels itself into a smooth, seamless surface.

Releasing air bubbles

A spike roller is run over the material while it is still flowing, to release air bubbles before it sets.

Edge finishing and Cove Base

Wall edges are finished with a continuous cove, reducing hidden corners where dirt collects. This is especially important in food and pharmaceutical plants.

PU MF / LF / HF: which should you choose?

These three systems are made for different jobs. Choose based on how the area is actually used, not on price alone.

PU MF — self-leveling

A smooth, seamless surface, more hygienic than LF or HF. Suited to food, beverage and pharmaceutical plants and cold rooms.

PU LF — thin film

Low cost and fast to install, focused on sealing the surface against dust. Suited to warehouses and light- to medium-duty areas.

PU HF — extra thick

Takes impact and forklift wheels. Suited to heavy industrial plants and warehouses with constant vehicle traffic.

Judge by use, not price

Choose a system that is too thin for a heavy-duty area and you will have to redo it sooner, so it ends up costing more than getting it right from the start.

Consider temperature too

PU MF works from -40°C to 120°C, which makes it a primary choice for cold rooms and areas cleaned with hot water.

Not sure? Let us survey first

Our installation crew checks the existing floor, its moisture and how the area is actually used, then recommends the system that fits, free of charge.

What to know and how to maintain it

PU MF costs more up front than standard floor coatings, but with the right care it lasts a long time and gives much better value.

Floor moisture must be within limits

Excess moisture in the concrete will push the PU layer into blisters and delamination, so always measure it and fix the cause before the system goes down.

The area must be closed off during work

A self-leveling system needs an area where dust and drafts can be controlled, so plan production line shutdowns in advance.

Allow the full cure before use

Opening the floor too early is a common cause of indentations and surface defects.

Can be cleaned with hot water and cleaning agents

Handles food-plant cleaning routines, with both hot water and standard cleaning agents.

Avoid dragging heavy items across the surface

Use rubber-wheeled trolleys instead of dragging, and the smooth surface will last much longer.

Check edges and joints

Edges and the areas around pipes are always the first to get damaged. Inspect them regularly and spot-repair right away.

Q&A

Frequently asked questions

How is PU MF different from Epoxy Self-Leveling?
PU MF is more flexible, copes better with temperature and thermal shock, and resists some chemicals better, so it suits food plants and cold rooms. Epoxy stands out for hardness and costs less.
How thick is it, and when can it be used?
The recommended thickness is 3–5 mm. It sets in about 16 hours and reaches full cure within 7 days, after which it can take full heavy use.
Is there a strong odor during installation?
PU MF is a solvent-free formulation, so it has very little odor, is safer for people working on site and is suited to food production areas.
