PU Non-Slip: slip-resistant PU flooring
Polyurethane flooring with an anti-slip aggregate blended in for high friction, so it resists slipping on both wet and dry floors. Suited to wet areas, ramps, kitchens and areas that need a high level of safety.
- Slip resistant, wet or dry
- Adjustable grip level
- Chemical resistant + water resistant
- Reduces slip-and-fall accidents
What is PU Non-Slip?
PU Non-Slip is a polyurethane flooring system with an anti-slip aggregate blended into the surface layer. This gives the floor high friction and helps prevent slipping, even when the floor is wet.
It is especially well suited to areas exposed to moisture, water or oil, such as kitchens, food factories, ramps and areas that are washed frequently, and the roughness/grip level can be adjusted to your requirements.
Key properties
High slip resistance
The anti-slip aggregate gives good friction on both wet and dry floors, reducing accidents.
Adjustable grip
Choose the surface roughness to suit the type of area and its level of risk.
Water/chemical resistant
Handles frequent washing, high moisture and chemical exposure.
Hygienic
Still cleanable despite the textured surface, which suits food production areas.
PU Non-Slip system build-up, layer by layer
The grip of a slip-resistant floor comes from placing the anti-slip aggregate layer correctly within the system, not from sprinkling sand onto the final coat.
Primer
A deep-penetrating primer is applied to bond the system to the concrete, which is especially important in wet areas where moisture is higher than normal.
Main PU layer
Polyurethane is applied as the base layer to the specified thickness, sealing the pores and helping keep water from seeping into the concrete.
Anti-slip aggregate layer
The anti-slip aggregate is broadcast while the main layer is still wet, so the two bond into one integral layer.
Sealing top coat
Applied over the aggregate to lock it firmly in place, helping prevent it from coming loose while keeping the floor cleanable.
How to choose the right grip level for each area
Too much grip makes the floor hard to clean and harsh on feet, while too little does little to reduce accidents, so the key is matching the grip level to the real risk.
Mainly dry areas
Use a light grip level. The surface stays close to a standard floor and is easier to clean than the higher levels.
Occasionally wet areas
Use a medium grip level, suited to factory walkways that are washed down on a regular cycle.
Constantly wet areas
Use a high grip level, for example in kitchens and food production areas with water on the floor throughout the shift.
Areas with oil or grease
These need a high grip level combined with a grease-resistant system, because oil reduces friction more than water does.
Ramps and stairs
Add grip just on ramp sections and step edges, which are common accident spots.
Areas washed very frequently
Choose a grip level that still lets you use a floor scrubber, so cleaning does not become a burden.
Suitable applications
- Kitchens / wet areas in food factories
- Ramps and walkways with a slip risk
- Areas that are washed frequently
- Factories with water or oil on the floor
What to know and how to maintain it
A slip-resistant floor genuinely helps reduce accidents, but the grip level must be chosen and maintained correctly.
The more grip, the harder it is to clean
A rough surface holds more dirt than a smooth one, so choose a level that matches the real risk in the area.
Floor moisture must be within limits
Even in a wet area, the moisture in the concrete must be measured and be within the limit before the system is installed.
Clean with a soft-bristle brush
A soft-bristle brush or a floor scrubber with a cleaning solution removes dirt from the surface texture better than wiping with a cloth.
Check high-traffic spots
Main walkways wear first. When the grip drops, reapply the system in those spots before an accident happens.
Do not scrub with a wire brush
A wire brush pulls the anti-slip aggregate out, making the floor more slippery over time.
Grip can be restored in specific spots
There is no need to strip the whole floor: the system can be reapplied just where the grip has worn down.
